Fredericksburg Getaway Day One: The Drive

For the 4th of July Garrett and I wanted to go on a little trip. We decided to pick somewhere in the great state of Texas, and settled on Fredericksburg. The trip was amazing from the beginning. We took the scenic route and just enjoyed the Texas Hill Country and each others' company the whole way there.

Garrett driving and being silly.

It was pretty late in the afternoon by the time we got there, but we still made time for a few things before the sun went down. First we went to Wildseed Farms, which has acres and acres of wildflowers, a nursery and a butterfly sanctuary. It was close to closing time by the time we got there so it was pretty empty, which made it even more romantic. : )

Garrett and I at Wildseed Farms. It was so hard to find someone to take our picture.

A shot of one of the fields and some pretty rain clouds rolling in.

The nursery.

A tiger-striped butterfly and some wildflowers.

Garrett and I strolling the grounds.

After Wildseed farms we went back to the hotel, got dressed up and went to a wonderful restaurant called Cabernet Grill. The food was amazing- Garrett even got me to try escargot, which I really liked, believe it or not! After dinner we went to a bar and listened to some live, Texas country on the patio. Garrett even got me to dance-once. I was too nervous to really enjoy myself as I am an AWFUL dancer. Garrett is a wonderful dancer, so I want to practice so we can dance together often. After the bar it was late, so we went back to the hotel for some rest!

About A Boy

In addition to the changes and firsts I mentioned a few posts ago, I have one more pretty big one to mention...I have a boyfriend! I feel like such a high school girl as I type this, but I can't help it- I am in love! Who is he? His name is Garrett and we met at work. He went to school in Colorado and has a degree in psychology, just like me. He works for Alvarado ISD {where he is from} during the school year, and at the Center during summer and other school breaks.

Now you may be thinking, is it too soon? Maybe. Is it irrational? Perhaps. Those things may be true, but I have never been more sure about anything in my life than I am about Garrett. He is the most wonderful man I have ever met, everything I did not know I was missing and my best friend.

Oh, he is pretty handsome too! ; )

This is Where I Live

Here are a few pictures of my apartment. I live on the third floor, which kinda sucks when I have to carry anything upstairs, {mainly groceries} especially when I have Sammy. Other than the stairs I have no complaints. The complex is relatively small {only about 8 or 9 buildings} and is very quiet.

My living room. I wanted it to feel bright and happy and cozy!

Close-up of my dresser.

My couch pillows-probably my favorite thing in the living room!

My bathroom.

Sam's bathroom

My balcony plants. : )

I will post more as I get more decorated!

Let's Play Catch-Up

It feels good to sit down and give this blog some lovin'! This summer has been one of many changes, firsts and definitely lots of fun. I moved into my first apartment in June, and while it has taken some getting used to, it is starting to feel like home. I have never lived by myself before, so that is another one of those "firsts" that I referred to earlier. I've spent lots of time down at the pool with Sammy as well as on my balcony making sure that I have the cutest patio in the complex. Anyway, in addition to moving I also started working full-time at the Child Study Center, which has been really enjoyable and rewarding. I also start my first semester of graduate school tomorrow, and I have also decided to get my teaching certificate. I am excited and nervous about both. Lastly, I am happier than ever and enjoying life! I feel like there is so much more to write, but I will leave it at this for now.
